2nd Blogiversary!

Image
It's my 2nd blogiversary!  I have really enjoyed blogging and have learnt so much through this process and made some lovely friends.  I thought in this post I would share with you some of my fave outfits and what I have learnt over the past two years. Things I have learnt from blogging so far: To embrace my style: Blogging has helped reconnect me to my style and preferred way of dressing.  I was definitely stuck in a rut and had lost my creativity.  Through blogging I have embraced my love of colour and accessories and this has helped me to become more in tune with myself and my individual style.  To think before I buy: Before I started looking at blogs and starting my own, I never thought before I bought!  If I wanted something and could afford it, I would buy it!  I didn't even consider whether I actually needed it, what I would wear it with or if it was made ethically.  I still have a long way to go, but now I do think before I buy.  I think about h

Colour Combo: Yellow & Blue

Blue and yellow would have to be one of my favourite colour combinations to wear!  It's a combination that I wear quite often and always love putting old pieces together to make new outfits.  I've had this skirt for several years and it is such an unusual piece. I bought it from a pre-loved fashion boutique in Osaka, Japan.  It's handmade and its unique print is navy blue with what appears to be gold splashes of paint!  It's such a fun and unique skirt!   This time I decided to pair it with a similar coloured long-sleeved tee and layer it with my bright yellow cardi.  I then added some fun yellow accessories and my comfy navy blue shoes.  New outfit created!  Playing around with items in your existing wardrobe is always so much fun, isn't it?  The possibilities really are endless!   The Outfit: Top: Rockmans Cardi: Millers Skirt: bought in Japan Shoes: H&M Earrings: Tattooed Zombie Necklace: bought at pop-up store Ring: presen

Denim Days

On days when I'm not sure what to wear I grab my trusty jeans, a colourful top and then let my accessories do the rest.  Jeans are still somewhat of a novelty for me!  Even though jeans are a wardrobe staple for many, I am actually a relatively new convert to wearing them.  Before I was pregnant with my son, I always wore maxi skirts or colourful pants and rarely wore jeans at all.  During pregnancy I developed an umbilical hernia, which made wearing jeans incredibly uncomfortable!   About a year and a half ago I had surgery to repair the hernia and after allowing time for it to heal, went shopping for a pair of jeans!  Last winter I wore jeans a lot, making up for lost time it seemed!  They were pretty comfortable, but sometimes the button at the top of the fly would poke my belly button and feel a bit sore.  Ouch!  I'm not someone who suffers for style! ;)  At the beginning of winter last month, I bought the most comfortable jeans I've ever worn!  They don't

Styling a Vest

Image
I had been on the look out for a sleeveless black vest for ages! I really searched everywhere at the op-shops, retail shops and online!  It seemed there was nothing out there that fitted the bill for me!  Finally I managed to track one down online at 50% off for the EOFY sale.  It's such a versatile piece and I have already worn it heaps and heaps!  It's perfect for adding that extra bit of coverage and or warmth to an outfit.  I know it's a bit out of character for me to choose a black vest, but I wanted it to be versatile enough to wear to work and casually and the black provides a great backdrop for my many brooches too!  I'm not actually wearing any brooches in these two outfits, but you can be sure that I have been in real life!  I must remember to get hubby to take photos more often as lots of outfits fall by the wayside!  I've only become aware of vests since I started blogging (almost) 2 years ago!  I never really thought about them and didn't think

Dress Styled 4 Ways

Image
I bought this sleeveless chevron patterned dress last year and wore it quite a bit over summer.  The great thing with Brisbane having such a mild winter is that you can still wear a lot of the same clothes as in summer and then just add a cardi or jacket when required!   Here are 4 ways I've worn this dress recently! Outfit 1: Styled with a denim jacket Dress: Suzanne Grae Denim Jacket: Autograph Shoes: H&M This jacket is a new purchase.  I've been on the hunt for a denim jacket for ages and this one fits the bill nicely.  I also bought these canvas shoes for $5.  They are actually really comfy!  Heart pins: H&M I bought these pins the other day too!  I thought they were a fun addition to my denim jacket!  They also happen to match my heart earrings perfectly!   Earrings: Tattooed Zombie Ring: Diva Bag: Banned Apparel Outfit 2: Styled with yellow Dress: Suzanne Grae Cardi: Millers Shoes: H&M Blue and yellow wou
