Styling a Vest

I had been on the look out for a sleeveless black vest for ages! I really searched everywhere at the op-shops, retail shops and online!  It seemed there was nothing out there that fitted the bill for me!  Finally I managed to track one down online at 50% off for the EOFY sale.  It's such a versatile piece and I have already worn it heaps and heaps!  It's perfect for adding that extra bit of coverage and or warmth to an outfit.  I know it's a bit out of character for me to choose a black vest, but I wanted it to be versatile enough to wear to work and casually and the black provides a great backdrop for my many brooches too!  I'm not actually wearing any brooches in these two outfits, but you can be sure that I have been in real life!  I must remember to get hubby to take photos more often as lots of outfits fall by the wayside!

I've only become aware of vests since I started blogging (almost) 2 years ago!  I never really thought about them and didn't think they would suit me.  I did have one really cool boho shaggy wool vest, which on the hanger was so cool but on me it was so yeti!! ;) Vests haven't become a wardrobe staple for me, but I have acquired a few in the past 2 years that I really enjoy wearing in the cooler months.

Do you wear vests?  Is there any item of clothing that you have only started wearing recently?  Let me know!  I'd love to hear from you!

  1. It's always great when you find something you've been hunting for! the vest look great on you too, I like it in both outfits but I think the second one is my favourite :)

I only have one vest, I find it a bit of a strange thing to wear, I'm getting more used to it and trying to wear it, it's great as a layer in the warmer months as I feel I need my arms covered in winter! :)

Hope that you had a lovely weekend :) We spent most of ours at home, just relaxing!

  2. I like wearing the vest in both outfits. I have only 2 vests in my wardrobe and really don't wear them very often as they don't suit me. They make me look fatter than I am Yours really suit you.Flossie xxx

  4. I don't really wear vests, at least not sleeveless ones. Here in Belgium, it is either too hot or too cold for them, but I bet they are perfect for Aussie temps ;-) I love both outfit versions you created with them. Those floral pants are gorgeous, and so, of course is the necklace, which I would have spotted across the room as well. xxx

  7. I love vests, but have such a hard time finding one that I feel like isn't swallowing me (or enlarging my already broad shoulders. I've always been partial to those shaggy boho babies but they too make me feel like an ugly yeti and nowhere near chic! Hahaha! Gorgeous looks and love that necklace. $5 what a steal!
