Can a leopard change its spots?

Image
Leopard print has been around since (almost) the beginning of time.  It is timeless and never goes out of style.  It goes with everything and most people these days even consider it a neutral!  Given all of this, can you believe this is the first leopard print item I've ever bought??  It's not that I don't like leopard print, in fact I think it looks great on other people!  I just never thought it would suit me.   When I saw this snow leopard print top last week, I loved it and I knew it was coming home with me!  Now that I have my first leopard print, I want more!  I'm now on the hunt for some fun leopard print accessories!   So, it seems that a 41 year old leopard can change its sartorial spots!  Here are two ways I've worn my new top in the past week: Outfit 1: Top: Harris Scarfe Denim Skirt: Noni B Shoes: Converse Sunglasses: Jag Bag: Sportsgirl Ring: Diva Bracelet: Mimco Earrings: Ta...

Summer Vibes!

Image
Well, summer has truly arrived here in Brisbane, Australia!  It is currently 32 degrees celsius and I have cranked up the aircon to make it more bearable inside the house!  I just can't believe summer is here again already and that we are now in the final month of the year!  How can it possibly be December?  There are only two weeks of school left and then my son will be on school holidays for six weeks!  I can't believe he's almost finished grade two!  Since he started school, time really has flown by.   Another sign of summer, is when our neighbour's frangipani tree flowers start to bloom. In the last couple of weeks they seem to have suddenly appeared and it's previously bare and sad looking branches are now covered in vibrant yellow and white sweet smelling flowers (see photos below).   In this post I thought I'd share two outfits that I wore in the past week.  For the first outfit, I couldn't resist picking up a fra...

Real Life with Fun Backgrounds!

Image
I hadn't planned on taking any blog photos on the day these were taken.  I wasn't wearing any make-up or anything new or exciting, but when the family and I visited this shopping centre down the Gold Coast for the first time recently, I loved the different murals and artwork throughout, that I couldn't resist taking photos!  Each background was located in a busy thoroughfare so the photos were taken extremely quickly!  No time to check lighting, apply lippy or do creative poses! As I said, it wasn't an outfit I considered particularly "blog worthy" but then again, I'm just a regular person living a regular life and these clothes reflect that!  Plus, what exactly is considered "blog worthy" for a non-celebrity 41 year old Aussie woman living in the suburbs??  I'm not exactly living the high-life!! Anyway, here's the outfit!   The Outfit: Top: Sussan Skirt: Crossroads Shoes: Hippie Chocolaticas by HCD Necklace: Rockm...

In The Garden!

Image
I'm still kind of getting used to having to take blog photos outdoors to get decent photos!  I feel rather foolish posing for photos in my front yard!  Luckily my elderly neighbours haven't seen me posing yet, because they would think my husband and I are weird wandering around the garden trialling different poses and backdrops!  Although, they probably already think we're weird, so they might not be surprised at all! Ha!  Although I am still looking for the perfect (and secluded!) backdrop to take blog photos, my garden was the perfect setting for this outfit, which features a bird print skirt and chunky flower ring!  This skirt is one of my all-time favourites.  I bought it several years ago in Japan and I just love the colours and the bird print.  I absolutely adore animal motifs on clothing and this skirt is no exception! I decided to pair it with a plain navy tee and added tan shoes, a tan bag and my vibrant pink beads and chunky rose ...

Yellow, Denim & Toucans!

Image
Well, the good news is, this is a new post!  The bad news is that my previous phone (and of course, camera) is beyond repair with no chance of resuscitation! Noooo! That means I've lost photos, downloads and notes forever!  Also, it means that no longer can my husband take a few quick blog photos in the hallway and then I'm done.  The camera on my new phone only takes reasonably decent photos outdoors, as the flash isn't good at all and really washes out the colours of an outfit, when taken inside.  Not exactly ideal when the whole point of my blog is to show my colourful outfits!  Anyway, now blogging will require a bit more planning and finding a suitable outside backdrop for photos.  Oh, and a willing husband to actually take the photos!  Today we ventured out into the front yard and took a few photos.  They aren't great and the garage door background is not exactly appealing, but for now it will do!  It felt good to take phot...

Magenta Top Styled 3 Ways

Image
Hi Blog Friends!  Hope you're having a great week so far!  I am still waiting for my camera, so no new photos again!  I really miss taking photos for my blog!  Anyway, there's no point complaining, luckily I've got lots of photos in my archives!   Magenta is a colour I've always loved, but had never worn until recently.  Usually my go-to tops are black, blue, red and grey, but in recent times I have stocked up on plain tops in a multitude of colours, including colours I had never ever worn before like yellow and magenta!   When I find a style of top that I like, I tend to buy one in several colours at the time, so that I don't miss out!  I have this exact top (from Sussan) in black, aqua and blue! I'm so glad that I stocked up when I did, because finding a plain coloured top that fits well, isn't as easy as it sounds!  In fact, it often seems that the most basic pieces are the hardest to find!  Does anyone else agree...

Statement Necklaces

Image
I'm still waiting for my phone to be repaired, so no new photos just yet!  Instead I thought I would take a look into my photo archives and do a post about my favourite statement necklaces.  I love all accessories, but I really think nothing beats a statement necklace!   A statement necklace can really add colour and character to any outfit.  Even if you are in a rush and just throw on a plain tee and jeans, adding a fun necklace on the way out the door, can really transform an otherwise boring outfit!  Another great thing about bold and bright necklaces is that you don't have to spend a lot of money to get some great unique buys.  Most of my necklaces are from local markets or op-shops and at most cost about $10 each! Another fabulous thing about fun and quirky necklaces is that they never go out of style!  Trends may come and go but fun and original pieces of jewellery are always going to be considered fun and original !  Som...
