Fun Summer Tees & Maxi Skirts

Image
Happy New Year!  Can you believe it is 2019? Surely it's not more than 2016 or so, right?  Ha! Anyway, I consider it an absolute privilege to ring in another new year with my hubby and son.  Not everyone has that privilege and I am truly grateful to be alive and have loved ones in my life.  Starting a New Year always makes me think about my life and the people past and present who have been in my life.  It sometimes makes me sad, but ultimately it makes me feel gratitude and the strong desire to carpe diem!  Speaking of seizing the day, I am making the most of the summer days here! I recently bought these two fun summer tees from H&M.  I don't wear a lot of graphic/slogan tees, but these prints caught my eye!  I've already worn them with other things, but I thought I'd share the outfits from the other day, when I paired them with maxi skirts.  They are quite versatile tees and when they get worn out they will make great pajama slee...

Hot Pink Summer!

Image
How was your Christmas?  I hope you had a lovely time. I tend to go through colour phases with my outfits and my colour of the moment is pink.  Hot pink, that is!  I was never really a fan of pink as a girl, but now I love it!  It's such a fun and vibrant colour: perfect for summer!   Lately I've been wearing this hot pink top quite a bit.  It brightens up any outfit and is made from 100% cotton, so it is perfect for the hot weather.  In the first outfit, I paired it with my new spotty pants and in the second outfit, I paired it with my recently thrifted skirt.  This skirt was such a great op-shop find!  I absolutely love the colours and print and it is such a great length to wear in this hot weather. Outfit 1: Top: Katies Pants: Rockmans Sandals: bought in Hawaii Necklace: bought at pop-up store Ring: H & M Bracelet: present from Mum Bag: Reaction by Kenneth Cole   Outfit 2: Top:...

Sleeveless in Summer!

Image
Summer is in full swing here and the heat has been almost unbearable!  As I type this, it is 4pm and still 35°C!  Thankfully we have aircon in the lounge room and have been lazing around in front of it all day.  My son is on school holidays now and it's been hard to entertain him this week with the heat!  Unless you go to the park/beach or any other outdoor activity at the crack of dawn or late afternoon, it is just too hot to play outside.  I took him to play outside yesterday morning, but today we've stayed indoors all day, to escape the heat.  With my sensitive skin, even when I just go outside briefly to check the mail, I can feel my skin burn!  Luckily I have plenty of 50+ sunscreen to lather myself in! ;) With how hot it's been (and currently is!), I've been wearing sleeveless tops.  I don't generally wear anything that is sleeveless, due to my issues about exposing my chubby arms!  However, when the mercury hits 30+ degrees celsiu...

Nautical Inspired Outfits

Image
The thing I love most about blogging is that it inspires me to not only embrace my own style, but it encourages me to try out other trends.  Nautical inspired outfits are a classic, but have never particularly appealed to me.  In recent times though, I have been drawn to anchor motifs and other fun nautical inspired clothing and accessories.   I thought it would be fun to put together two new outfits from my wardrobe!  Both outfits include my red and white skirt from 10+ years ago.  This skirt is one of my faves and has appeared on the blog several times!  I think it is perfect for a nautical inspired outfit, although at this time of the year it looks more like a Christmassy/ candy cane inspired skirt!  Either way is fine by me! ;) In the first outfit, I paired a top with a print that has triangles on it, but to me they resemble little boats!   For the second outfit, I wore a graphic tee with an anchor on it.  Of course it ...

Boho Summer Dresses

Image
Well, there is absolutely no denying that summer is well and truly underway here in Brisbane!  My son only has two more days of school left and then he's on holidays for six weeks!  My birthday is coming up in a few days and then there's Christmas of course and then the New Year!  How is that even possible?!  This year has really flown by!  I really can't believe it.   Anyway, back to the outfits!  With the humidity rising during the day, it is definitely the perfect time to wear cool and breezy dresses.  Can you believe I actually only have four dresses in my entire wardrobe?  As much as I love dresses on other people, it is hard to find a dress that flatters my figure.  As an apple shape, most dresses tend to add bulk to my mid-section and make me look heavily pregnant!!  Not a great look!  While I don't care about fashion "do's" and "don'ts", I do care about looking pregnant when I'm not!!   Anyway (a...
