Dropping Anchor

Well, July is almost over.  Can you believe it?  I know I can't! That also means that "No Buy July" is drawing to a close.  I must admit I really struggled and must confess to buying a few items over the course of the month.  Nothing major, but still, I didn't stick to it completely!  That may suggest that I didn't learn anything from this challenge, but that is definitely not true!  In fact, all month I was conscious of all of the items I have in my wardrobe and had fun coming up with new outfit combinations.

For example, while going through my accessories, I discovered I have an anchor ring and anchor necklace, which gave me the inspiration for this outfit.  I love when accessories work together to create an outfit, don't you?!  

So, as a challenge for one month I didn't really succeed, but as an exercise in making the most of what I have and thinking before I buy, I definitely succeeded.  Not just for one month, but for the long haul.  Anchor dropped!

    You should feel proud of yourself that you managed restraint during July. I think it's a good idea to see what can be matched and the anchors are a start. I just love those shoes. They really compliment your outfit. Flossie

    The anchor accessories are so fun, and I like that printed dress! :)

    No Buy July is always good for making me think more about my spending! I think even if you do end up shopping, as you said it's still a learning experience, so it's a great thing! :)

    I seriously covet that anchor necklace, and I love how it provides a pop of red to your outfit, which is especially striking against the vivid blue of your cardigan. And oh, those shoes are just divine! xxx

    Good for you - well done on your "no buy" month! I once did a full year of 'no new clothes' - I could only buy second-hand (or use gift certificates/birthday money to buy new). It was really tough, but it did teach me a lot about impulse buying, and WHY I was shopping so much.

    Love those shoes - the anchor theme is cute too! Aw, Amber kitty. :)

Colourful Crop Cardis & Midi Skirts

Our internet is in and out at the moment, so while it's in , I'm going to go for it! The outfits I'm sharing with you today are quite different on the surface, as the colour schemes are dramatically different!  The first one has lots of autumnal colours and a bit of a 1970s vibe and the second one features more summery colours with a slight nautical vibe!  When I wore these outfits recently, I never thought they were similar at all, until I was going through my blog photos and realised both outfits were made up of colourful tees, cropped cardis and midi skirts!  So in that realisation, this post was born! My favourite outfit is the first one, because I haven't worn those colours much before and I was happy pairing these items together for the first time!  I like the second outfit as well, but I do wear blue and red together quite often.  Actually, it might be a good outfit for Australia Day, which is coming up soon! Burgundy & Beads!

Can you believe it is almost the end of February?  I am still getting used to it being 2019, and the second month is already almost over!  This is my last week to get everything sorted out before my postgraduate studies resume again next week.  I haven't even ordered my textbooks yet!  I really need to get organised!   In the outfit I'm sharing today, I'm wearing one of my fave maxi skirts that I've had for many, many years!  I've worn it with many different coloured tops over the years, but this was the first time wearing my new burgundy coloured top.  I love the burgundy and wine colours that are around at the moment.  They're so pretty!
