Dropping Anchor
Well, July is almost over. Can you believe it? I know I can't! That also means that "No Buy July" is drawing to a close. I must admit I really struggled and must confess to buying a few items over the course of the month. Nothing major, but still, I didn't stick to it completely! That may suggest that I didn't learn anything from this challenge, but that is definitely not true! In fact, all month I was conscious of all of the items I have in my wardrobe and had fun coming up with new outfit combinations.
For example, while going through my accessories, I discovered I have an anchor ring and anchor necklace, which gave me the inspiration for this outfit. I love when accessories work together to create an outfit, don't you?!
So, as a challenge for one month I didn't really succeed, but as an exercise in making the most of what I have and thinking before I buy, I definitely succeeded. Not just for one month, but for the long haul. Anchor dropped!
The outfit:
Dress: Autograph
Cardi: Millers
The accessories:
Necklace: Tattooed Zombie
Ring: Madame Butterfly
Bag: Daiso
Shoes: Cherry Chocolaticas by Hot Chocolate Design
You should feel proud of yourself that you managed restraint during July. I think it's a good idea to see what can be matched and the anchors are a start. I just love those shoes. They really compliment your outfit. Flossie
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Flossie! I love these shoes, too! They're so cute and comfy! ;) XXX
DeleteThe anchor accessories are so fun, and I like that printed dress! :)
ReplyDeleteNo Buy July is always good for making me think more about my spending! I think even if you do end up shopping, as you said it's still a learning experience, so it's a great thing! :)
Hope you had a wonderful weekend :) Mine was busy but good!

Thanks so much, Mica! It really was good for me to think before spending money and also to make the most of my existing wardrobe ;) XXX
DeleteI seriously covet that anchor necklace, and I love how it provides a pop of red to your outfit, which is especially striking against the vivid blue of your cardigan. And oh, those shoes are just divine! xxx
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Ann! I've been wearing a lot of blue and red lately! ;) XXX
DeleteGood for you - well done on your "no buy" month! I once did a full year of 'no new clothes' - I could only buy second-hand (or use gift certificates/birthday money to buy new). It was really tough, but it did teach me a lot about impulse buying, and WHY I was shopping so much.
ReplyDeleteLove those shoes - the anchor theme is cute too! Aw, Amber kitty. :)
Thanks so much, Sheila! Wow! That would be so hard for me! ;) What a great lesson to learn though. I will definitely continue to be more mindful with my spending! XXX
